Cluster or IBN Description
Flanders Bike Valley
BikeValley is an open innovation center for the sports industry which was founded in 2013 by Flanders Make, BioRacer, Lazer Sport, Ridley Race Productions and Voxdale. Meanwhile we count over 70 members.
We focus on 6 domains who are interconnected and sometimes overlap. Mobility, sports, safety and healthcare, science and technology, industry and government, tourism. As innovation center we organize events to stimulate the intertwinement in the cycling industry.
Since 2014 we launched several national and international projects. As incubator we offer our residents entrance to a rich cycling knowledge and plenty of other facilities; meeting rooms, event location, concept store and the windtunnel which operates as testing center.

10:30-11:40: visit BikeValley (in two groups)
The Bike Valley wind tunnel is a unique, independent, low speed wind tunnel designed specifically for cyclists and the cycling industry, where aerodynamic drag and turbulence can be measured for manufacturers, product developers, and athletes. A purpose-built wind tunnel can lead to higher overall accuracy and repeatability than the those built for aeronautics, aviation, motorsports, or other scientific research.

Members of Flanders Bike Valley / Companies
Bioracer is committed to one mission: we make you faster. To achieve this, we keep one basic principle in mind: man is measure of all things. We look at cycling from another angle and try to fit those pieces that make your puzzle complete. And we do this all for one thing: we make you faster.
Mission: we make you faster
We innovate, design, manufacture, promote and sell speedwear to cyclists, triathletes, runners and ice skaters, striving to maximize their performance. Winning is a state of mind. With every inch of your gear prepared, your only focus is you.
VISION: MAN IS THE MEASURE OF ALL THINGS
The speed and performance of an athlete depends on 3 things: biodynamics, aerodynamics and aquadynamics. It is in our DNA to innovate to improve your athletic performance. We design your gear so you can compete at your best. Your greatest competition is yourself.
Vrije universiteit Brussel
At the faculty of Physical Education and Physiotherapy our main objects are providing education, conducting scientific research en providing services to society in the field of Movement-and Rehabilitation Sciencies.
The research in the Human Physiology research group is focused on ‘Exercise and the Brain in Health & Disease’ where the interaction of exercise on neurochemistry and neurophysiology is explored. The research is concentrated at 3 different levels: 1) Fundamental - Physiological research, 2) Applied – Clinical research, 3) Benchmarking – Policy making research
Most of the research projects progress through these 3 levels, starting from fundamental studies (e.g. animal studies) through applied, clinical trials, which lead to benchmarking studies or to policy making advice.
No special requirements.
